House Health Care Markup
C-SPAN is covering the House Energy and Commerce Committee health care markup today. The morning session is archived; the afternoon session is on again after a recess. Read the amendments as well as the full bill on the C-SPAN home page.
It’s very possible that soon there will be an actual committee-passed bill that people can read and that outside groups can analyze while members take their European-length summer vacations.
Hopefully, lawmakers will spend some time entertaining questions from the anxious citizenry; a recent poll showed something like 94 percent of Americans would be concerned if Congress failed to enact meaningful health care reform. When practically ALL of us agree, lawmakers should be on notice and prepared to defend the particulars. And to act.
