Fossil Fuels Danger

WHYY’s “Fresh Air” today covers two stories related to America’s addiction to fossil fuels: one on BP’s history of neglect; and another on the movie “Gasland,” a documentary that investigates the fallout from natural gas drilling in 24 states.

Health Blogging: Good News in Breast Cancer Treatment

The American Society of Clinical Oncology, which met this week in Chicago, reported good news for those diagnosed with early breast cancer: you may  not need a more invasive procedure to remove underarm lymph nodes, which can leave patients with swollen arms. The New York Times has the report.

This is a Relief (Yeah, It’s a Pun)

As BP’s efforts to stop the flow of oil streaming into the Gulf fail by the minute, some seriously crazy ideas are getting bandied about. But a “nuclear option“? The Times reports CNN’s John Roberts saying this, way to glibly for my taste:

“Drill a hole, drop a nuke in and seal up the well.”

John, not gonna happen. So put a cap on it (yeah, it’s another pun).
